▷ WHAT'S THIS SANDBOX ABOUT?

Hotel Fen is a sandbox inspired by the novel 'Hotel Fen', in which characters find themselves trapped in the hotel and they'll have to survive its horrors and get out. The hotel is a remote resort in the Scandinavian Mountains, a four-hour drive from the city of Oslo in Norway. It's a luxury hotel with a vintage feel and a Norse mythology theme, and it's a popular place for long vacations and for those who simply want to get away from the world for a while.

▷ WAIT, WE HAVE TO READ A BOOK?

Not at all! In the GPSL characters are trapped in a magical Norse-themed hotel that's out to kill them. In the book, well, the main characters are in the same predicament. That's really just it.
Those those that have read the books may decide to throw up opens outside the hotel setting, but they will hopefully include more information for the set up for you.

▷ SO WHEN YOU SAY SANDBOX...

The game itself started as a PSL idea, and later we opened up the game to everyone else. The game can be found at hotelfen However, with the way lives have worked right now, while the game was low maintenance, neither of the mods could keep up. But we have such a supportive community that they wanted to roll in the setting of both the game and the books while life finds some solid ground for us. Thus this sandbox for the game and the world was born.

▷ IS IT MODERATED?

Nope! This is an Open Comm where people can come and play in the world.
The Comm is open to join as you'd like it, unmoderated.

▷ ARE THERE ANY RULES?

Just be adults, treat each other respectfully, and don't be a jerk - IC if your character is a jerk and you play him in character, that's one thing, but OOCly we expect you to be kind or civil to each other. Because this is unmoderated, the mods aren't always around to check in on things - however, feel free to message hevner if you have a major concern.

Also, for those that are potentially looking to RP within the book setting a little more, we request that you throw up a small note that it might be a spoiler for the book if people read or respond to it.

▷ HOW DOES TIME RUN IN-GAME THEN?

Time is a lie, you know that right?

Which is to say, because we're just a sandbox some people are allowed to bounce around the timeline. The timeline of what, you might ask? Timeline of the book and timeline of the game as well. Time is 100% a lie.

▷ DO MCU THOR, ODIN OR LOKI FIT IN?

So as a whole, because the book, and the game, are based in Norse Mythology, and the MCU exists in that world, they'd not take over the role of the actual Thor, Odin, Loki, etc that actually exist in the Hotel Fen Universe. It's kind of a handwave-y kind of mirror version that doesn't have the same memories, history, or powers as the actual Norse Gods that are behind the scenes.
